About the Zlatý Lev hotel

Welcome to the Zlatý lev hotel - one of the most important landmarks of Jablonec nad Nisou.

The foundation of the existing Zlatý lev hotel complex was already laid in the second half of the 17th century with the establishment of a "tavern" by Christián Elgert, and the date 9/16/1693, when the property was expanded and the courtyard was built, confirms the prosperity of the "hospitality business".

Although the building does not remain in the possession of a single family, the original purpose of the building remains unchanged. It always expresses the interest and possibilities of the owners. The merchant and painter Adolf Hübner (May 23, 1857) also belongs here, thanks to whom the garden was also established.

The southern wooden part was preserved until 1919. The fundamental change of expression from 1935 reflects the overall concept of urban development. Despite the fact that the plan to expand the hotel facilities with a concert hall did not materialize, the characteristic signature of the architect Robert Hemmrich, who gave the city of Jablonec nad Nisou the admirable form of a modern city of the beginning of the 20th century, was preserved. 

  In the last decade of the 20th century, the Zlatý lev hotel went through two very significant events. The plan to rebuild the hotel was agreed upon and a demolition permit was already issued for part of it, specifically the classicist extension.

In the last year of the 20th century, a major event occurred for the Zlatý lev hotel. Its owner is a local company from Jablonec, which decided to repair, renovate and bring the hotel back to life. And so after less than two years, not only the residents of Jablonec nad Nisou can return to the hotel and restaurant business.

The current, necessary reconstruction fully respects the preserved original parts. It sensitively combines the means of expression of past times with the current modern life trend. It thus proves that the building continues to be a unique document of the architectural development of the city of Jablonec nad Nisou.
